November 2008 Christmas Fair
Thank you to all for a busy and successful three hours. Supported by those who manned sixteen assorted craft stalls alongside Friends stalls including wooden toys, hand sewn and knitted items, cakes, cards, scarves, gifts, and a raffle (many thanks to the ladies of the Wives Group for providing a super Christmas hamper) we raised a total of £1,300 in support of St Mary's Church. Not only this but it was good to see so many people in the church on what was a lovely autumn morning.
In particular we are really grateful to the forty four children of differing ages who helped us by providing such excellent pictures for our painting and colouring competition. Their pictures were so good and there was such a variety that Sylvia Hornsby had great difficulty in deciding which two pictures in each age group deserved prizes. There were so many good pictures that we would have liked to have given many more awards. These pictures will remain on display in the Church for all to see; if children would like their pictures back then parents are welcome to collect them after a week or so. As a celebration of this work all this year's pictures can be seen via the links below.
We thank Hayes+Hayes Architects (www.hayesandhayesarchitects.co.uk) for kindly sponsoring this year's competition.
